Mt. Palay Palay
Pico De Loro, sounds like a bird but not an animal, it's a mountain peak.
It's one of the known hiking place for beginners who wants to feel the fun of hiking.
A good starting point that will give you body pain and will probably leave you as an achiever.
Here's a simple guide for you to follow on going Pico De Loro - Cavite to Batangas (Mt. Palay - Palay):
1. Go to the Bus terminal in Coastal Mall. (There are other terminal that is available but I haven't tried it so I won't recommend.)
a. If you are from Laguna, you can ride a jeep to Alabang go to south station, then ride a jeep to Baclaran be sure to ask the driver if it will travel to Coastal Mall.
b. If you are from North Edsa or around North you can ride a bus going to Coastal Mall.
2. Ride a Bus going to Ternate terminal (Be sure to ride the bus indicating it will go travel in Cavitex for shorter travel time)
3. Ride a Tricycle from Ternate Terminal to Pico De Loro DENR
Upon arrival, go to the nearest store in the place and ask for registration and pay the fee.
How to go back:
1. Find the Bus Terminal to Coastal Mall/Edsa.
a. If you go down in Cavite Trail, you can just ride a tricycle to Ternate Bus Station and Ride a Bus either going to Coastal Mall/Edsa.
b. If you tried Traverse and followed Batangas Trail you have option to ride a tricycle that will travel from Batangas to Cavite and will be travelling Kabyang Tunnel. On the other hand, you may choose to go to Nasugbu Town Proper to Bus/Van Terminal Going to Edsa or Coastal Mall.
Note: If you will travel from Coastal Mall and will go back to Laguna, you can ride a bus going to Edsa or wait for a jeep going to Alabang. If you want to take shower after the hike, there are Comfort rooms in the BUS terminal. You may take your shower by paying 20 pesos. :)
**Follow the same route you traveled before going to Coastal Mall.
Since I did this kind of blog after having a long time of traveling I don't have itinerary but to have a brief summary of time with an allowance for possible traffic estimate, this might help:
30 mins to Alabang
1-1.5 hours Alabang to Coastal Mall
1-1.5 hours North Edsa to Coastal Mall
1.5-2 hours Coastal Mall to Ternate at
15-30 minutes Ternate to Pico de Loro DENR
30 minutes warm up.
3-4 hours going to the peak.
2-4 hours going down.
1-3 hours to Coastal Mall.
Have atleast 14 - 18 or more of your time, based on experience we meet-up at 5am - 6am and be home at 10-11pm, it's usually traffic going home, you can sleep on the bus -_____-

Tips:
-Ask the driver if you are still not sure about the exact drop off point.
-Be sun ready.(You may bring jacket/malong/cap/sunglasses)
-Leggings that are long(Jeggings) and long sleeves are most suitable to avoid wounds from braches or the like.
-Bring extra clothes and be sure it won't get wet.
-Bring snacks they don't have multiple store on the place, they only have one on the registration point and one on the campsite, it's affordable anyway. (Note: You cannot throw your garbage on the place so might as well be trash ready :p )
-Bring your own lunch.
-Bring something where you can seat and eat (Like picnic table cloth)
-Bring water and Gatorade atleast 1 liter. The camp site is a long hike for beginners!
-Bring energy boosting foods like banana and chocolates.
-Check the weather before traveling.
-If you want a cheap travel don't ask for any guide, the trail is so simple. There are locals offering assistance so you might ask them for help and give a small amount of money.
-Just keep right on your trail.
-Be rappel ready if you wan't to go to the monolith.
-Don't ever go alone, your teammates and friends may be worried when they lost sight of you! Just kiddin', it's for safety reasons.
-Try to traverse in batangas on your way down and see Kabyang tunnel from Batangas to Cavite!
-Lastly, be brave and enjoy the hike!
